Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign

The Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign is a partnership between the Onondaga Nation and Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON) to create a statewide educational campaign commemorating the 400th anniversary in 2013 of the first treaty between the Haudenosaunee and European settlers.

The Haudenosaunee retain the Two Row Wampum Belt on which this treaty was recorded. The belt illustrates a 3-part commitment to friendship, peace, and living in parallel. The Haudenosaunee emphasize that ecological stewardship is fundamental to creating peace and a sustainable future.

The Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign hopes to polish this centuries-old friendship between our peoples. The campaign's goal is to draw more people into extending Indigenous sovereignty, protecting our shared environment, and supporting resolution of Haudenosaunee Land Rights Actions.

The Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign: Honoring Native Treaties and Protecting the Earth is an historic canoe event on the Hudson River in August 2013. The campaign is also sponsoring lectures, concerts, historic enactments, and celebrations that focus on healing for all.
