The video below shows that in 2011, Chief Oren Lyons, Faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan of the Onondaga Nation of the Haudenosaunee, was given The George Arents Award by Syracuse University -- his alma mater -- for "Excellence in Social and Environmenal Activism". In 2007, Syracuse University renamed the International Living Center to Oren Lyons Hall. In 1993, Chief Lyons was awaded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Syracuse University.

Chief Lyons is featured in the Issues and Indian Sections of this site for his role in helping the world understand the importance of the Native American worldview for the survival of humanity. Chief Lyons summarizes the world challenge with 4 words: "Values Change For Survival!"
