American Dream

America, as the world's only superpower, has enjoyed a rich life. Since World War II,
the American middle class has had a level of convenience that makes us the envy of the world. Our lives are replete with electricity, indoor plumbing, central heating and air conditioning, washing machines and dryers, refrigerators, microwaves, radio, TV, PCs, cellphones, WiFi, CDs, DVDs, pools, jacuzzis, gyms, air-conditioned cars with GPS and access to a good national highway system, expansion bridges, subways, trains, planes, universal education, hospitals, ATMs, and credit cards.

We now take for granted a lifestyle that no king could could have dreamed of just a century ago. The BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) are rushing now to copy the American Dream. The world wants the lifestyle we have built here for ourselves. Yet, America is suffering physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We are in an economic, environmental, and health crisis. We are engaged in a growing and endless war with and losing our freedoms at home.

Even our technology threatens to harm and replace us now. We face a "transhumanist" future. With so much power and physical abundance, why are things going so wrong?
