Raj Patel: Value of Nothing [Click graphics to watch video or see book]
In this short video, Raj Patel points out one of the main themes of his best-selling 2009 book The Value of Nothing: How to Reshape Market Society and Redefine Democracy. After the 2008 financial collapse, former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan confessed that his understanding of how the world works had been wrong. So, if this financial guru who led the nation, led us astray, what can we learn from that and do differently now? We have to re-think how we determine the value of everything from food, clean water, forests, to women's unpaid work. We need to re-envision our world in a way that is different from the values of the financial market.
