Dr. Terry Wahls' Organic Recovery

Dr. Terry Wahls is a board-certified internal medicine physician and clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa where she teaches internal medicine residents, sees patients in a traumatic brain injury clinic, and conducts clinical trials.

Like many physicians, Dr. Terry Wahls focused on treating her patients’ ailments with drugs or surgical procedures—until she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2000. Within three years, her back and stomach muscles had weakened to the point where she was confined to a tilt-recline wheelchair for 4 years. Conventional medical treatments were failing her and she feared she would be bedridden for the rest of her life.

However, Dr. Wahls didn't give up. She began reading the medical literature, looking for her own answers about what drove disability. She created new theories which she tested on herself with results that stunned her, her family, and her physician.
In 2007, Dr. Wahls adopted the nutrient-rich ORGANIC paleo diet to get her vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids from food rather than drugs. First, she walked slowly, then steadily.

By 2008, Dr. Wahls was able to bike 18 miles in a single day!  In 2009, she went horseback riding in the Canadian Rockies.
In, 2011, Dr. Wahls shared her remarkable recovery in a TEDx talk (linked to below) that immediately went viral.

Dr. Wahls is teaching both the medical community and the public about the power of intensive, directed nutrition, to restore health and vitality. She created The Wahls Foundation to support education and research about the impact of intensive directed nutrition coupled with exercise for multiple sclerosis and other chronic diseases. She is also the lead scientist for a funded clinical trial testing the effectiveness of the interventions she used in others with secondary progressive MS.

Favorable preliminary results were presented at the international 2011 Neuroscience conference in Washington D.C.

Dr. Wahls lectures nationally and internationally and has authored the book, Minding My Mitochondria: How I Overcame Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and Got Out of My Wheelchair. Now, in The Wahls Protocol, she shares the details of the protocol that allowed her to reverse many of her symptoms, get back to her life, and embark on a new mission: to share the Wahls Protocol with others suffering from the ravages of multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune conditions
